Tripe Marketing Board chairman Sir Norman Wrassle has expressed the tripe industry’s disappointment after the board received news of the cancellation of the 2020 World Comedy Food Awards earlier today.
The Awards, which were due to take place in Stuttgart in October, have previously seen tripe notch up a creditable second position, and hopes were high that 2020 would see it reach the pinnacle in the world of comedy foods.
“Obviously, we’re saddened by the news. Everyone knows that tripe is an inherently very funny food, and we expected to oust kippers from their top slot this year,” Sir Norman said.
In a poll undertaken by the TMB’s Twitter account, almost half of the 579 people who voted picked tripe as the funniest food. “We’re the people’s choice,” Sir Norman said, adding that tripe would come back next year stronger than ever.
