Tripe Marketing Board chairman Sir Norman Wrassle has made the bold pledge that tripe will be available in every charity shop in the country by the end of 2022.
His comments came as the TMB linked up with the south London-based We Care food bank & community hub for its annual Christmas Fundraiser. Sir Norman said he wasn’t advocating edible tripe but written tripe, instead. He urged tripe lovers to either donate direct to the We Care crowdfunder, or to buy a copy of the TMB’s Forgotten Yorkshire book on Amazon, especially while it’s reduced to just 99p.
“Every time someone buys a copy, we’ll donate £1 to the We Care crowdfunder, because Amazon pay us more in commission than the 99p it costs to buy,” Sir Norman said.
The TMB launched its Christmas fundraiser on 14 December, and has already made donations of £95 from the first two days of book sales. “We hope that this Amazon discount lasts a good while, as tripe lovers are renowned for being very generous. Any copies they can’t give as gifts will probably end up in charity shops before long – so that’s a double win!” said Sir Norman.
Forgotten Yorkshire has been described as a local history version of 1066 And All That and makes a great Christmas stocking-filler at just 99p. Why not stock up on a few now, and help a very worthy cause in the process? Or simply buy some and take them straight to the charity shop, saving your friends and family a lot of time and energy in the process.
You can buy Forgotten Yorkshire here. Amazon has restricted purchases to 3 per week at this offer price, but remember – the TMB will donate £1 for every copy you buy, so please buy generously.
UPDATE: As of 21 November 2022, £755 has been raised.
STOP PRESS: Donation increased to £2 per copy, and all books!
